Mary McDonnell

 

Mary Eileen McDonnell (born April 28th, 1952) is an American stage, film, and television actress. Her parts in Dances with Wolves, Stands With A Fist and Passion Fish brought her Academy Award nominations. McDonnell is famous for her performance as President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica and First Lady Marilyn Whitmore in Independence Day and Rose in Donnie Darko. McDonnell was the Captain Sharon Raydor on seasons 5-7 of TNT's series The Closer. She also starred in Major Crimes, the spin-off show on TNT's network, as the Commander Sharon Raydor.
